Meet the Kindergarten Team!
Kathi Heckart, aka "Mrs. H" and Nellie Jarvis
Nellie Jarvis has been the kindergarten teacher at Mountain View for the past 22 years. She was one of the original staff members at Mountain View, serving first as a teaching assistant in 2nd grade, then as the 5th grade teacher. But when the kindergarten position opened up, she jumped on it and has never looked back! Prior to that, she taught hearing impaired children in rural Kansas and in Houston, Texas. She spends her summers bouncing between Rainbow Trail Lutheran Camp where her husband is the director, and South Dakota where where she grew up and where her parents still live. She enjoys running and hiking, camping, painting, and biking. She loves going to New York City as often as she can afford it, taking in as many shows as the checkbook will allow! She has never found a roller coaster that she won't try--the bigger the better!!!! She had her husband, Dave, have two grown children, Leah and Ben, and they are also the parents of Dakota, a beautiful Golden Retriever.
Kathi Heckart has also been at MVCKS since its beginning, first as a parent, with both sons attending here. In October, 2001, she joined the staff as the kindergarten teaching assistant. "Mrs.H," as she is called, loves to travel, cook, and be with her dog Dottie Jo... (If you can even call it a dog... Dottie Jo is a Japanese Chin Shihtzu... also known as a tiny little yip-yip dog...super cute, and the light of Mrs. H's life!) Mrs. H is native to the area, and has been married to her husband Blaine for 30 years. Every once in awhile you can catch them tearing up a dance floor with their swing dance and two-step! A care-giver by nature, she is right at home caring for little ones at Mountain View, as well as for her many friends. She is known for her snarky sense of humor and her willingness to take one for the team!!! (Ask her about being buried in corn or being dunked in the dunk tank!) Her favorite vacation spots are any beach in Mexico, camping... (well, glamping,) and Europe. She and Blaine are proud of their two grown sons, Brooks and Kramer.
