Greetings Mountain View Core Knowledge School Community,
My name is Dinah Navarette (aka Ms. N.) I am the new school counselor here at Mountain View. I have lived in Canon City for 27 years; however, I fell in love with the community as a child visiting my grandparents. I always knew that I would make Canon City my home.
I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education and Recreation and a Master of Arts degree in School Counseling ages 0-21. Both of these degrees reflect my life passions. I have been a school counselor for 20 years serving elementary aged children at Harrison School and I will always cherish my time there. Prior to that, I worked in the education department at the Federal Correctional Institution in Florence as a Career and Guidance Counselor for 7 years. I started my career in education teaching Physical Education in Hayden, Colorado where I spent 5 years.
In my free time I value time spent with my family and friends. I love getting outside and enjoying nature. I love my “puppy” family, camping hiking, mountain biking, and gardening as well as reading and crafting. I believe balanced living is the key to happiness. You also might need to know that I am AN AVID BRONCOS FAN and my family has had season tickets since 1969! I always look forward to Fall because it is the beginning of a new school year and a new football season!
I feel so blessed to join the Mountain View School Community. I deeply value relationships and each day I come to school I am humbled and thankful for the opportunity to touch the lives of our young people. I look forward to the school year ahead, building relationships and enjoying the many adventures being a Pre-K to 8th grade school counselor will bring.
